Gene B. Bridgers

LASKER – Gene Barrown Bridgers, a native of Northampton County, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family after a long, hard fought battle with renal cancer and diabetes.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Odie Martin who treated him like a son; his parents, G.B. and Beatrice Bridgers; paternal grandparents Robert and Josephine Bridgers; sister-in-law Sheryl Lanier Bridgers; and several very special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Surviving are his son, Darren Gene Bridgers and wife Meg of Lasker; granddaughter, Meghan Bridgers Flythe and husband Russ of Seaboard, NC; granddaughter, Ashlynn Darren Bridgers; and grandson, Greyson Burgess Bridgers of Lasker.

Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, June Bridgers Warren of Murfreesboro, and Anne Bridgers Barnes and her husband, Sam, of Lake Gaston; and brother Marty Bridgers of Conway.

Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Joanna Warren Dunn and husband David, Cyndi Warren Chamblee and husband Chris, Chip Warren and wife Kristin, Robbie Howell and wife Kristie, Ryan Howell, Lauren Bridgers, Denise Robinson and husband Scott, and Darlene Powell and husband Grayson; eight great nieces and nine great nephews; aunts, uncle and many cousins whom he had special relationships.

At Gene’s request his ashes are to be distributed as directed and a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Many heartfelt thanks go out to all who stopped by on a regular basis to visit with him, the phone calls, the many prayers, Community Hospice, and special thanks and appreciation to Ann Drake who traveled many local miles with a specific and very detailed list to make sure Gene had exactly what he wanted.

The family has been and will continue to receive friends at the home of his son and daughter-in-law Darren and Meg Bridgers, 1319 Lasker Golf Course Road in Woodland (Lasker), NC.

Gene will be forever missed.
