Early voting begins today

Early voting—also known as One Stop Voting—for the upcoming primary begins Thursday, April 19 and runs through Saturday, May 5. Hours and locations vary county to county. There are no early voting sites open on Sundays.

In Bertie County, two early voting sites will be available. Voters can choose to cast their ballot at either the Bertie County Board of Elections Office, located at 210 W. Watson Street, Windsor, or the Powellsville Town Hall, which is located at 106 E. Main Street.

The Windsor Elections Office site will be open for voters from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during the early voting period, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

Voters can cast their early ballot at the Powellsville location beginning Monday, April 30 through Saturday, May 5. That location will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. 

May 5 will be the only Saturday any early voting will be available in Bertie County.

There will be two early voting sites in Gates County as well, located in Gatesville and Sunbury.

The Gates County Board of Elections Office is located at 931 Main Street, Gatesville. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays during the early voting period. The location will also be open for voters from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The other early voting site, St. John AME Zion Church, is located at 1101 US Hwy 158 East, Sunbury. That location will be open for voters from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. They will also be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Voters in Hertford County can only vote early at the Hertford County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 301 W. Tryon Street, Winton. The office will be open for voters from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the early voting period, except for Saturday, May 5 when the hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Three early options are available in Jackson, Gaston, and Rich Square for Northampton County voters.

The J.W. Faison Administrative Building, located at 9495 NC Hwy 305, Jackson, will be open for voters from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The site in Jackson is the only place which will be open on April 19 and April 20. The other two Northampton locations begin early voting on April 23.

Cool Spring Community Center is located at 101 Cherry Street, Gaston, and The Roanoke Center is located at 409 N. Main Street, Rich Square. Voters can cast their ballot at these locations from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
