AHOSKIE – Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital was recently awarded two grants from the 2017 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Campaign funds. The grants will fund two projects to benefit children in the Roanoke-Chowan area.
The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Campaign raises funds annually for the benefit of children who reside within the 29-county service area of James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Grants awarded to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital are for the Women’s and Children’s Unit to purchase two ‘Neopuffs’, one for each labor and delivery room. The Neopuff Infant Resuscitator is a light weight, stand-alone resuscitator unit suitable for delivery suites and meets hospital resuscitation guidelines for infants.
The hospital pediatric asthma program also received funding to purchase tobacco prevention materials, including a ‘Ciggy Butz’ costume, to educate youth in the area. Educational materials include a banner, activity books, and handouts.
“We are pleased that the Children’s Miracle Network has granted these funds to our hospital to improve the care and health education we provide for the children we serve in the Roanoke-Chowan area,” said Sandra Woodard, director of development for the hospital, who assisted with the grants to receive the funding.
