Mary M. Phillips

CONWAY, NC – Mary Margaret Phillips, 46, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Prodogy Rehabilitation Center in Tarboro, NC.

A native of Hertford County, she was the daughter of Dan Thomas and Garnet Williams Phillips of Murfreesboro. She was a graduate of Ridgecroft School and attended East Carolina University in Greenville and, then, worked with the Department of Corrections in Hertford County.

Mary Margaret was a very artistic and creative person who loved to dance, having studied dance in her younger years and who loved music. She was known to have a good sense of humor, keeping those around her joyful with her humor. Also, she had a great love for her church, Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro where she was a lifelong member.

Her survivors include parents, Dan Thomas and Garnet Williams Phillips of Murfreesboro; a sister, Rebecca Bateholts and her husband, David, of Goldsboro; two nieces, Heaven Phillips and Harley Bateholts; and nephew, David Bateholts, Jr.

The family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 and her graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Town of Conway Cemetery with the Rev. John Porter presiding.
