Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation and Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund accepting grant applications

The board of advisors of the Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for projects funded from its community grantmaking fund, according to Laura Beasley, board president.

The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund is also accepting grant request from area nonprofits that serve the needs of women and children, according to Penny Rose, president.

Funds are available for nonprofit organizations that serve general charitable needs in Bertie and Hertford counties. Applications are available online beginning March 9. Visit nccommunityfoundation.org for information about applying. The deadline for submitting applications is noon April 10.

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation was founded in 1999 and is an affiliate foundation of the North Carolina Community Foundation. BHCF is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build community assets through the creation of permanent endowments, makes grants and leverages leadership – all for the benefit of Bertie and Hertford counties. In addition to Rose, board members include John Tayloe (vice-president), Lindsay Vaughan (secretary-treasurer), Austine Evans, Richard Hoggard, Robert Lee, Anna Pierce, Karen Ray, Laura Beasley, Marti Tyler and Ron Wesson.

Tax-deductible contributions, made payable to the Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation, can be mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, 3737 Glenwood Ave. Suite 460, Raleigh, NC 27612. Contributions can also be made online at nccommunityfoundation.org.

The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund is a program of the North Carolina Community Foundation designed to maximize women’s leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating its membership, increasing charitable contributions and strengthening communities through the impact of collective giving. The membership We currently focus on initiatives that address the needs of and for women and children in areas of health, education, human services in Bertie and Hertford Counties.
