AHOSKIE – Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital will participate in National Heart Month activities during February to raise community awareness about heart health. Heart disease is the cause of one of every six deaths in the United States.
The Vidant Health 2018 Heart Truth Tour ‘Young at Heart’ will travel through eastern North Carolina with a stop in Ahoskie on Valentine’s Day, February 14 at the Ahoskie Inn.
Nationally known speaker Jessica Melore is the keynote speaker for the event. At the age of 16, Jessica suffered a sudden massive heart attack and was not expected to live through the night. She survived, but unfortunately her left leg had to be amputated due to complications after surgery. Also a three-time cancer survivor, she has an amazing story of courage to share.
While a student at Princeton University, she was named to Glamour magazine’s Top 10 College Women. She’s appeared on well-known TV programs, and in numerous publications.
A heart healthy luncheon will be served with heart healthy recipes available. Screening for blood pressure will be provided and booths and displays will offer free information about heart health. Each participant will receive a gift bag of heart health information.
The event begins at 12 noon at the Ahoskie Inn and is free, but registration is required. Space is limited; register by calling 1-855-MYVIDANT (855-698-4326). Register online at VidantHealth.com/HeartTruth.
