Joseph “Joe” Jerry Vick, Sr.

RICH SQUARE, NC – Joseph “Joe” Jerry Vick, Sr., age 90, passed away on January 28, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Vick was born in Northampton County on July 31, 1927, a son of the late Ryland and Agnes Barnes Vick. In 1948, Joe married his soulmate, Mary Margaret Burke and were blessed with a daughter and two sons. They were happily married for almost 60 years until she preceded him in death.

Joe worked for over 50 years with Madry Auto Supply in Rich Square, first as an employee and later as proprietor, making many friends along the way. Joe enjoyed many things, but his favorite pastimes were sailing and listening to bluegrass music. He was a faithful member of Rich Square Baptist Church and a former member of the Rich Square Fire Department.

Besides his parents and his loving wife, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Godwin Vick, and his sister, Anna Parker.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Carol Vick of Pasadena, CA; his two sons, Mike Vick of Rich Square, NC, and Jerry Vick of Washington, NC; four grandchildren, Rylan Sian and spouse Howard Sian of San Francisco, CA, Mark Vick of Rich Square, NC, Sarah Vick of Winston Salem, NC, and Joe Vick of Washington, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Rich Square Baptist Church, Rich Square, NC, with Rev. Bob Rogers, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
