AHOSKIE, NC – Betty Lynette Castello Willoughby, 62, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC on January 14, 2018.

She was born on August 4, 1955 in Hertford County, where she met her future husband, Thomas Wayne Willoughby, in 1978, and they married in 1979. She followed her husband to numerous posts during his service in the U.S. Army. They returned to Hertford County upon his retirement and continued to live in Ahoskie, NC until her passing.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Wayne Willoughby of Ahoskie, NC; her son, John, his wife Lindsay, and grandchildren Abigail and Nathan; her son Michael, his wife Lucy Ng, and grandchildren Aiden, Gracin, and Nicholas of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; her brother, Wayne Castello and his wife Diana of Powellsville, NC; and her niece, Tammy Harrell, her husband Edward, and great nieces and nephew Pristina, Tabitha, Jackson, and Sheree of Colerain, NC.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Anna Belle Castello.

At her request there will be no memorial service held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation or to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter’s, Norfolk, VA – in honor of her grandson Nathan Willoughby.
