KINSTON, NC – Heaven opened the gates to receive Elizabeth “Amanda” Cleve on January 12, 2018 at the age of 72.

Amanda was born May 20, 1945 to the late Samuel and Nell Elizabeth Jones. She most loved spending time with her family and friends and they truly loved her back. She will forever be loved and remembered by her family. She was a devoted member of Smith New Home Original Free Will Baptist Church and loved serving the Lord.

Amanda is survived by her husband, William E. Cleve, Jr.; daughters, Donna Thorp Stalnaker (Eric), Tina Thorp Richmond (Jarrod), Tanya H. Deaver (Speedy), Robin Hill Rogers (Jimmie), and Sherry Hill Jenkins (Clifton); stepchildren, Faye D. Smith (Charles Howell), Melody Lewis (Allen), and William Cleve III (Linda); grandchildren, Derrick Stalnaker, Kelly Stalnaker, Ashley Stalnaker, Garrett Richmond, Matthew Richmond, Austin Deaver, Jacob Deaver, Brittany Smith, Cody Rogers, Tiffany Jones, Stephanie Byrd, Melissa Gaskins, Von Lewis, Josh Lewis, Will Cleve, and Mary-Hannah Cleve; 22 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Beard III (Deborah), John Earl Conwell (Anna), and James Oliver Bryant (Leah).

Visitation was held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, 2018 and other times at the home.

Funeral service will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Bryan. Graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Smith New Home Original Free Will Baptist Church, 112 Smith New Home Road, Deep Run NC 28525.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smith New Home Original Free Will Baptist Church, 112 Smith New Home Road, Deep Run NC 28525.
