AHOSKIE, NC – Allen Conrad Croom, 58, of 601 South Atlantic Avenue, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, VA.

Mr. Croom was born in Hertford County on January 29, 1959, and was the son of the late Conrad Hobson Croom and Iris Sewell Ow. A long-time resident of both Virginia Beach and Elizabeth City, NC, he had been the shop foreman of Steca, Inc., where he was employed from 1984 to 2005.

Surviving are his sister, Carol Latiolais of Virginia Beach; a niece, Teresa Lynn Copeland of Virginia Beach; a nephew, William Timothy Copeland of Ecuador; a great-niece, Anita Copeland; and two great-nephews, Aaron and Brandon Copeland.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. in Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 530 NC 561 East, Ahoskie, and will be conducted by Pastor Jim Skipper. A private inurnment will be held on the family plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA.
