Chowan promotes Johnson to Assistant Director of Information Technology

MURFREESBORO – Kyle Johnson has been promoted to Assistant Director of Information Technology (IT) at Chowan University.

Johnson, of Newsoms, VA, has held various roles with increasing levels of responsibility in his seven-year tenure at Chowan University, most recently Network Administrator. He will assume supervisory responsibility

of the IT department if the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology is unavailable. He will also continue to maintain the network and its various devices.

Jay Howell, Assistant Vice President of Information Technology, says of Johnson, “I was pleased to see Kyle rewarded for his hard work and commitment to the University. I look forward to working with him as we position the IT Department to meet the University’s growing needs.”

Johnson, a 2010 Chowan alumnus, has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. In his new role, Johnson will be responsible for network and server management. If a computer problem effects more than one person on the campus, he is responsible for resolving it. He maintains all network and server hardware, as well as manages and secures wireless and wired networks. Additionally, he is responsible for software deployment and security updates, network print services, and file storage and backup, just to name a few.
