Jean E. Broom

HARRELLSVILLE, NC – Jean E. Broom, age 73, formerly of Ware, MA, passed away at her home in Harrellsville, NC in the company of loved ones on December 18, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jean was filled with an enterprising spirit and work ethic surpassed only by her lust for life. She was a pioneer for women in the transportation industry as an owner operator of the Pegasus Express Trucking Company, in CT. She was also the owner-manager of Hole Specialists in Ware, MA. She went on to become a successful and respected real estate broker with Jones-Bay Path Realty in Belchertown, Massachusetts.

She was an avid motorcyclist, Austin Healey enthusiast and club member, as well as an accomplished equestrian and talented gardener.

Jean was born to Jean and Julian Hussey of Belchertown, MA. She is survived by her mother, Jean; brother, Keith; daughter, Jean Matus; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Omri; three great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her life-partner and caregiver David Neal Jernigan.

Jean was predeceased by her father, Julian; her sister, Susan Bryson; and her grandson, Richard Tweedell.
