KINSTON, NC – Joey Marsha Ferguson, age 56, of Kinston passed away on December 2, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

She was born on November 25, 1961 to the late Jack and Claudine Outlaw of Hertford County. Joey spent a huge part of her life working at Claudine’s, her mother’s restaurant in Rich Square, which is now owned by her and her sisters. Clifton met Joey, the love of his life and soul mate, while working at Claudine’s around 2003.  Together they have created many great memories. Most recently Joey was employed at Lovick’s Restaurant in Kinston where she was greatly appreciated and loved. Joey was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was dearly loved by Clifton’s mother and sister. She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time on her front porch.

Other than her mother and father she is preceded in death by her sisters, Connie Dee and Lisa Star Outlaw.

Joey is survived by her soul mate, Clifton Murphy and his son Patrick; two sisters, Kathy O. Whitley and Charles Strickland of Rich Square, NC, and Patricia O. Fields and her husband Gary of La Grange, NC; two stepsons, Sean Ferguson of New Bern, NC and Michael Ferguson of Greenville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, NC.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Rich Square, NC. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery in Aulander, NC. Rev. Bob Rogers will be officiating the service.
