WINTON, NC – Shirley Marie VanLoton, age 91, passed away on November 13, 2017 at Vidant Bertie Hospital in Windsor, NC.

Mrs. VanLoton was born on May 22, 1926 to Vern and Vera Federman Briggs in Michigan. Shirley had a great love for animals, especially her beloved GiGi. She enjoyed doing ceramics. Shirley loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dean VanLoton; sister, Thelma Cole; and brothers, Pearl and Dwayne Briggs.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Michael VanLoton and wife Linda of Harrellsville, NC, and Randy VanLoton and wife Karen of Indianapolis, IN; and granddaughter, Kimberly Jones and husband Verble of Ahoskie, NC.

The family will gather and receive friends to celebrate the life of Shirley on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett~Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
