Malcolm M. Bracy

AHOSKIE, NC – Malcolm Mack Bracy, age 82, passed away on November 2, 2017 at the Gates House in Gatesville, NC.

Mr. Bracy was born in Roxobel, Bertie County, NC, on December 17, 1934, a son of the late Charlie Matt and Lila Teaster Bracy. Mack worked as a parts clerk for C. F. Industries and after retiring from there worked for W.H. Basnight.  He was also an accomplished painter.  He was a faithful member of Creech Memorial Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees and was recently designated Lifetime Deacon by the church.

Mr. Bracy was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his bounty with his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed landscaping and working in his yard, riding his bike, and spent countless hours swinging in his swing with his grandchildren. Often lovingly referred to as The Cat Whisperer, Mack had a love and a way with cats.

Besides his parents, Mr. Bracy was preceded in death by all of his siblings, William, Harvey, Earl, and John Bracy and Laura Smith, Emily Szyjka, and Dorothy Buffaloe.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce Cullipher Bracy; two daughters, Pamela Anne Bracy Hughes and husband, Gary, of Colerain, NC, and Monica Ruth Bracy of Ahoskie, NC; two grandsons, Graham Wynne Hughes and wife, Nicole, of Edenton, NC, and Mason Lear Hughes of Colerain, NC; a great-granddaughter, Maycee Lynn Hughes; and great grandson, Malachi Graham Hughes.

The family will receive friends at the home.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Creech Memorial Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. David Duncan, officiating.
