Murfreesboro African American History Gathering

MURFREESBORO – Cultivator Bookstore and the Chowan University History Department will be holding a Murfreesboro African American History Gathering at the First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.

Past and present Murfreesboro residents are encouraged to attend.

The purposed of the gathering is to collect and document Murfreesboro black history. Attendees are asked to bring old photographs, artifacts, documents, diplomas and the like that reflect African American life and culture of the town. Student volunteers will be on site to scan, photograph, and videotape the information provided so it can be preserved. All personal historical items will be returned the same day.

The data that is collected at this event will be made available online in a digital format that can be accessed throughout the world.

First Baptist Church is located at 230 Highway 158 Business (next to Riverview School) in Murfreesboro. Refreshments will be served.
