Stancil R. Bryant

AULANDER, NC – Stancil Roland Bryant, age 74, passed away on October 19, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.

A native of Northampton County, Mr. Bryant was born on May 1, 1943 to Harvey and Lucy Beale Bryant in Rich Square, NC. Stancil was a dedicated service technician for Roanoke Electric for thirty years before retiring. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, trucks, and tractors, fishing, woodworking, traveling, and going to antique engine shows. Stancil always had a story to tell anyone that would listen. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stancil was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend that will be deeply missed.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, JC and Matthew Morris Bryant; sister, Polly Hopkins; step-father, Lonnie Evans; and granddaughter, Annie Parker.

Stancil is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; three daughters, Teresa Hales and husband Kevin of Zebulon, NC, Gwen Wainwright and husband Ronald of Zebulon, NC, and Dottie Downs and husband James of Plymouth, NC; four sons, Charles Bryant of Rocky Mount, NC, Alvin Parker Jr. and wife Susan of Como, NC, Lee Parker and wife Mary Beth of Como, NC, and Joseph Parker of Texas; two sisters, Myrtle Spence of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Camilla Dixon and husband James of Halifax, NC; seventeen grandchildren, Cher Taylor, Candice Lane, Brandon Williams, Kristen Bailey, Jonathan Bailey, Christi Wainwright, Jaden Bryant, Katie Parker, Eric Parker, Jeremy Parker, Lindsay Downs, Hunter Downs, Joshua Parker, Jonathon Parker, Christian Parker, Gil Parker, and Charlie Parker; and seven great-grandchildren, Colin Williams, Evan Williams, Presley Smith, Mason Widmark, Charlie Parnell, Anna Beth Parker, and Ella Parker.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Pastor Ron Carr officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the visitation room and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
