Philip R. Crawford

BETHUNE, SC- Funeral services for Philip Ray Crawford, 58, were held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Timrod Baptist Church, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at Powers Funeral Home.

Mr. Crawford passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Born in Ahoskie, N.C., he was a son of Clarence Ray Crawford and Louise Baugham Crawford. Mr. Crawford served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years, obtaining the rank of SSGT and served in Desert Storm.

Mr. Crawford began his law enforcement career with Bishopville Police Department, later moving on to becoming a criminal investigator with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. In 1997 he became a road deputy with Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department, later moving to Criminal Investigator where he became a Lieutenant and polygraph examiner. In 2010 he became a criminal investigator and polygraph examiner with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department where he medically retired after being diagnosed with ALS.

Mr. Crawford enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Patricia Martin Crawford; children, Phillip Crawford (Alicia), Rebecca Crawford, Olivia Martin, and Chloe Rae Crawford; parents, Clarence and Louise Crawford; sisters, Donna Lowers (Eddie), Rhonda Cotton (Jimmy), and Yvonne Lee (Tommy); and one grandchild.
