COLERAIN, NC – Joseph Eugene “Gene” Northcott, 80, of Quebec Road, Colerain, died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie. He was born in Bertie County to the late Merle Eugene and Odell Wynne Northcott and was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Northcott.

Gene was a member and former deacon of Mars Hill Baptist Church. He was a farmer, worked with Vepco and retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a former Ruritan and 4-H Leader. Gene was also a former Fire Chief and member of the Trap Volunteer Fire Department and served in the US Army, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens with military honors. Rev. Preston Jernigan will officiate.

Survivors include his daughters, Patti N. Henning and husband, Jim, of Poplar Branch, and Jogina N. Russell and husband, Tommy, of Greenville; sister, Linda N. Wynns and husband, Lee, of Colerain; grandchildren, Jason Goetz and wife Jenny, and Tyler Russell; and great grandchildren, Haven and Harper Goetz.

The family received friends on Monday, October 9 at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor.
