WINDSOR – Bertie County Sheriff, John Holley announced the arrest of a suspect in the Sept. 26 robbery that occurred at the 101 Business Center, located at 247 U.S. Highway 13/17 South, here in Windsor.

On that date, at approximately 2:42 p.m. a man entered the business, pointed a handgun at the female worker and demanded money. Approximately $900 in cash was taken. The female was also struck in the face with the weapon. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was later identified as Tyquan Jaquavious Lee, 19, of 722 Ghent Street, Windsor.

Warrants were then obtained on Lee for robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

Holley says Lee was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 1, and was confined in the Bertie Martin Regional Jail under a $100,000 bond. His first appearance court date was set for Wednesday, Oct. 4.

On the day of the robbery, Lee had allegedly last been seen fleeing on foot towards a wooded area along Tarheel Lane, located off US 13-17. A K-9 unit from Martin County arrived shortly thereafter and assisted in the search, but turned up nothing.

Lee is no stranger to local law enforcement. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon in April of 2015 in Martin County. For that crime he was given a 30-month jail sentence that was suspended in lieu of probation, according to information posted on the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s website.
