Power to the Peanut!

AULANDER – It’s a salute to the golden goodness that grows just beneath the fertile soil of the Roanoke-Chowan area.

The Aulander Peanut Festival is slated for Saturday, Oct. 7, featuring a wide variety of activities.

The wholesome family fun – which lasts the entire day, includes entertainment, games and plenty of food.

For those with a competitive spirit, be sure to enter one of the contests – Punt/Pass & Kick; 5K Fun Run, Cornhole Tournament, and Aulander’s Got Talent – where prizes await the winners.

All events will take place at the Aulander Fitness Track and adjoining ballfield as well as inside the old Aulander High School gym (if needed), all located on Rice Street.

The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

There will be plenty of musical entertainment throughout the festival, to include The Jenkins Brothers 11 a.m.), Forgiven (3 p.m.) and the Moonshine Band (6 p.m.)

Be sure to shop for bargains by visiting one of the numerous arts/crafts vendors, and calm those hunger pains by selecting a delicious meal, sandwich or sweet treat at one of the food vendors.
