Chowan Regional Fair opens Sept. 26

EDENTON – The 71st annual Chowan County Regional Fair takes place Sept. 26-30 at the American Legion Fairgrounds in Edenton.

This family-fun event sponsored by American Legion Post 40 features midway rides for all ages, from kiddie rides to thrill rides, racing pigs, the Mitchell Marionettes, live music, Heritage Farm displays, a train display, carnival games, favorite fair food, exhibits and contests.

Fair highlights include the Little Miss Pageant (6:30 pm Tuesday), Hog Showmanship Show (6 pm Wednesday), Southern Gospel Program (6-9 pm Thursday) and Miss Chowan County Regional Fair Pageant (6 pm Saturday).

Fair admission is $8 and free for children under 36 inches tall. Elementary and middle school students are admitted free with a paying adult on Tuesday, and K-12 students are admitted for half price on Wednesday and Thursday. Seniors ages 60 and older are admitted free on Thursday.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Day, with half-price gate admission and unlimited ride wristbands for active-duty military personnel with valid military ID and their immediate family members.

Unlimited ride wristbands are $20. Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. Rides take 3 or more tickets each.

Fair hours are 4 to 11 pm Tuesday – Friday and 11 am to midnight Saturday at 1317 W. Queen St.
