Eddie Earls

AHOSKIE, NC – Eddie “Dale “ Earls, 74, of Ahoskie, NC passed away on September 6, 2017 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on August 27,1943 in Arkansas where he grew up and later moved to Greensboro, NC. It was there he entered the Air Force in 1962 and proudly served his country for 8 years, including a year in Vietnam.

After an honorable discharge, he entered the automobile business for over 25 years where he started in sales, later as business manager and last as 13 years as a sales manager for Williams Honda in Hampton, VA.  He and his family later moved to NC where he worked until he died as a correctional officer for River’s Correction Facility in Winton, NC.

Dale enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing, but most importantly the family he and Cathie made and loved. He will be greatly missed by so many.   

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend of nearly 31 years, Catherine D. Earls of Ahoskie, their children: William Miller of Newport News, VA, Madison Earls of Naples, FL, Ashton Earls of the home, and a very special daughter, Avery Earls of the home who he adored more than life. He also leaves three older children, Patti Banks of Slidell, LA, Ken Earls of Seaford, VA, and Polly Bradsher of Williamsburg, VA; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with three sisters, and a brother; a very special lady, his Aunt Elenora of Greensboro, NC; his mother in law, Dianne S. Johnson of Aulander, brother in law, Bo Miller of Aulander, brother in law Coleman Johnson Jr. of Hopewell, VA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews all over.

He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, and an infant sister, as well as his special uncle, Mearle Earles.

Thanks to all of Vidant care hospitals and hospice care from Vidant, and thanks to all at Rivers for the help and care you have all expressed to the family recently.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
