RICH SQUARE – A traffic stop conducted here Tuesday on a vehicle where a passenger was wanted on felony charges turned into more than expected.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office reported that members of the Down East Drug Task Force conducted the vehicle stop on Main Street in Rich Square. They subsequently arrested the passenger, 32-year-old Jeffery Timberlake II of Jackson, for several outstanding felony warrants.

“In the process of the vehicle stop and arrest, officers found Jeffery Timberlake II in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia,” Jacobs said in a press release.

Timberlake’s total bond was $37,500 secured. That included the outstanding felony warrants for two counts each of larceny, possession of stolen goods, and conspiracy to commit larceny.

The felony warrants were drawn in relation to an investigation from a May 29 case where a victim reported several items were stolen from her residence from individuals that were completing construction work on the home.

In the process of Tuesday’s vehicle stop in Rich Square, officers also arrested the driver, 25-year-old Lauren White of Murfreesboro, for possession of drug paraphernalia related to heroin. She received a $500 secured bond.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith stated that his staff will continue to pursue individuals who violate drug offenses.

“I would like to commend and thank members of the Tri-County Down East Drug Task Force for their effort in making this arrest. We at Northampton County Sheriff’s Office are committed to removing all illegal drugs from our communities and we will continue to make a difference to make our citizens and neighborhoods safer,” Sheriff Smith stated.
