AHOSKIE, NC – Mr. Charlie Winfred Ayers, age 65, passed away on August 25, 2017 at the Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, NC.

Mr. Ayers was born on January 10, 1952 to Charlie and Doris Cherry Ayers in Bertie County, NC. He married the love of his life in November of 1999. Mr. Ayers worked as a welder most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mr. Ayers was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charlie Ayers, Jr., and a brother, Robert Ayers.

Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Stacy of Sunbury; three sisters, Linda Brown and husband Tim of Ahoskie, NC, Betty Hill of Askewville, and Carol Jackson of Ahoskie, NC; four brothers, Irvin Ayers of Ahoskie, James Ayers of Menola, Johnny Ayers of Ahoskie, and Carlton Cherry of Chocowinity; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will celebrate his life by receiving friends on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
