COLERAIN, NC – Estus Bruce Lassiter, age 87, passed away on August 13, 2017 at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital of Norfolk, VA.

Mr. Lassiter was born in Potecasi, Northampton County, NC on June 5, 1930, a son of the late Everette Bruce and Martha White Lassiter.

Bruce owned and operated E. B. Lassiter Lumber Company in Potecasi, NC until his retirement. After retirement from the lumber business, he started a restoration business which he loved. He restored many old homes and historic places, including some restoration work on Hope Plantation in Windsor, NC, and St. Francis Methodist Church in Woodville, NC. Bruce was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cornelius Lassiter.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Laurinda Hooks Lassiter; a daughter, Paula Lassiter Botto and husband, John of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Estus Bruce Lassiter, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, and Dr. Gaddy Matheson Lassiter and wife, Dr. Renee’ Banaszak of Greenville, NC; a granddaughter, Matheson Lassiter of Florida; and a grandson, Austin Banaszak of Asheville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, prior to a graveside service, which will be held at 2:00 pm at the Potecasi Baptist Church Cemetery, Woodland, NC, with Rev. Ricky Browder officiating.
