Webster R. Daniels

COLERAIN, NC – Webster Reid Daniels, 91, of 605 Bethany Church Rd., (Perrytown) Colerain, NC, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. He was the son of Edward Ezekiel Daniels and Sarah Eula Hale Daniels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Morris Daniels; his brothers, Edward Daniels and Marshall Daniels; his sisters, Helen Cullipher, Pauline Liebig, Mildred Rhea, Malva Hoggard, Vivian Todd and Lorraine Keener.
Webster was a loving husband and father, and a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church. He loved working in his large vegetable garden, but most especially generously giving away his produce to family, friends and neighbors in several counties. For many years, he owned and operated Webster Daniels Warehouse in Perrytown serving the farmers in the area.
Along with other interested citizens of Bertie County, Webster was instrumental in the founding and development of Bertie Educational Foundation, which led to the establishment of Bertie Academy, later to be known as Lawrence Academy. Through the combined efforts of Webster and others, money was secured to purchase the Old Merry Hill School. He was the first chairman of the board of directors and continued to support the growth of the school through his involvement in its activities.
Webster raised many bird dogs and was an avid quail and pheasant hunter, even traveling to Kansas for many years.
Surviving are his sons, Steve Daniels (Tracy) of Currituck, Richard Daniels (Jennifer) of Merry Hill, Mark Daniels (Mary) of Edenton, and Brent Daniels (Kim) of Merry Hill, his daughter, Rebecca D. Daniels (Emmett) of Gatesville; grandchildren, Wesley Daniels (Sonya), Heather Paspas (Chris), Jay Michael Daniels (Sarah), Jamie Miller (Corey), Cam Daniels (Lindsay), Ginny Toppin (Ricky), Bethany Hoggard (Corey), Sarah Daniels, and Jordan Daniels; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Allie Mae Daniels, Chesson Paspas, Crosby Miller and three more on the way. It delighted him to see his family grow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 22, 2017 at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church. His pastor, the Rev. Tommy Tripp, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain.
The family received friends on Friday at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, and from the home at other times.
