Ahoskie Juniors rally past Edenton

AHOSKIE – The Ahoskie Post 102 Braves used a big offensive outburst late in the game to beat Edenton 9-2 in a junior American Legion contest here Tuesday night.

Post 40 opens the scoring with one run in the top of the first and lead 1-0 after one inning.

Edenton scores its final run in the top of the third and leads 2-0 after three innings.

Ahoskie scores nine runs in the bottom of the sixth. Ryan Rowe singles to left (which is Ahoskie’s first hit).

Rowe goes to second on a wild pitch and scores on an Evan Lassiter RBI single. Lassiter goes to second on a Trevor Lee single to center. Lassiter scores on a Trent Hobbs RBI single. Lee takes third and Hobbs takes second on a throw home. Lee scores on a wild pitch. Hobbs scores on an Ethan Hughson RBI groundout. Tyrek Beverly has a two run double, Rowe has a RBI single, and Lee has a two-run double. Ahoskie leads 9-2 after six innings.

Edenton does not score in the top of the seventh for the 9-2 Ahoskie win.

Trent Munford pitches five innings for Post 102. Hobbs pitches two innings for the win in relief.

Ahoskie has seven hits. Lee and Rowe have two hits. Lassiter, Hobbs, and Beverly, have one hit each.

Wednesday also at home, Bear Grass beat Ahoskie Post 102, 9-3, in the regular season finale.

Bear Grass leads 9-0 going to the bottom of the seventh. Ahoskie scores three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ethan Hughson scores on an error. Two runs then score as Zack Lassiter reaches first on an error. A strikeout ends the game.

Ahoskie finishes the regular season at 9-10 overall and 6-5 in the conference. The Junior Legion playoffs begin Wednesday, July 5 at Manteo.
