Ahoskie Juniors blank Beaufort County Post 15

AHOSKIE – Hunter Mitchell pitches a three-hit shutout as Ahoskie Post 102 beat Beaufort County Post 15, 10-0, in a junior American Legion game here Monday night.

Ahoskie opens the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first. Ryan Rowe reaches first on an error, replaced by pinch runner Zack Lassiter. Evan Lassiter triples to right, scoring Zack Lassiter. Evan Lassiter scores on a Trevor Lee RBI double. Lee steals third and scores on a wild pitch. Ahoskie leads 3-0 after one inning.

The Braves add four runs in the bottom of the second. Mitchell doubles to left. Pinch runner Javier Correa goes to third on a wild pitch and scores on a wild pitch. Evan Lassiter and Lee both walk. Lassiter and Lee score on an Ethan Hughson two-run triple to right center. Hughson scores on a wild pitch. Ahoskie leads 7-0 after two innings.

Ahoskie scores two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Evan Lassiter reaches second on an error and scores on a Lee RBI triple. Lee scores on a Hughson sacrifice fly. Ahoskie leads 9-0 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth Post 102 turns its second double play to end the inning.

Ahoskie scores its final run in the bottom of the fifth. Parker Bradley walks and goes to second on a wild pitch. Parker Bradley scores on a Zack Lassiter RBI double to end the game because of the 10-run rule for the 10-0 Post 102 win.

Mitchell pitches five innings for the win, allowing no runs on three hits and has four strikeouts.

Hughson leads Post 102 with one hit and three RBI’s. Lee has two hits and two RBI’s.

Ahoskie is 8-9 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
