RODUCO – Two women are slowly recovering from stab wounds following an incident near here May 26.

Gates County Sheriff Randy Hathaway reported that David Nollie Eure, age 48 of Eure, was arrested in the case. He was charged by Deputy Garrett Winslow with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Eure was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond. That bond was posted and Eure was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Gates County District Court on June 5.

Sheriff Hathaway said the incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, May 26 at the Bear Garden Fox Pen, located off Tuggie Eure Road. There, the Sheriff said there was an alleged altercation, apparently between Eure and another male, at which time the two women intervened.

The Sheriff said it was alleged that Eure produced “some sort of very sharp object” which was used to inflict wounds on both women. Hathaway said one was cut near the shoulder area while the other was cut in the arm.

He added there were several witnesses to the crime other than the two victims.
