WELDON – The Early Childhood Center (ECC) at Halifax Community College (HCC) has been raising awareness for child abuse prevention on campus.
In early April, the ECC held its annual “pinwheel planting” ceremony. Children and teachers planted more than 100 pinwheels in the flower beds in front of the Phillip W. Taylor Complex on the campus of HCC.
In addition, this year’s planting hosts a special memorial in the main flower bed. The ECC paid tribute to Genesis and Serenity Freeman, the two children who were tragically killed by their father in Fayetteville. A special sign was placed to memorialize the two little girls.
April served as Child Abuse Prevention Month across the country.
