BOURNE, MA – Richard M. Sheets, age 83 years, of Sagamore Beach in Bourne, MA, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was the husband of Beverly (Morash) Sheets, and the son of the late Paul and Agnes (Kirby) Sheets.

Born in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, he graduated from Mission High School and Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Richard worked as a manager at Boston Edison until his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Bonaventure’s Catholic Church in Manomet, and played softball on the Cape Cod Old Timers League and the Boston Edison League. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dorchester Council, and American Legion Post #0188 in Sandwich. He loved music, singing and dancing.

Besides his loving wife Beverly, he leaves his son, John Michael Sheets; his daughters, Judith Sheets Northcott and her husband Jon of Murfreesboro, NC, and Jennifer and Jessica Sheets, both of Sagamore Beach; and his grandchildren, Stephanie Northcott of Raleigh, NC and Scott and Austin Sheets of Sagamore Beach. He also leaves behind his sister, Eileen Freeley of Braintree with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul and Eugene Sheets.

A funeral Mass for Richard will be held in St. Bonaventure’s Church, 819 State Rd. Plymouth, MA, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church will be from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
