Lois L. Edwards

PENDLETON – Lois Ayres Long Edwards, 92, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie Scarborough and Blanche Modlin Long. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Kindred Edwards; a brother, Wayland E. Long; and a sister, Nedra L. Futrell.

Born in Severn, Lois was a lifelong resident of Northampton County. She graduated from Severn High School and graduated from

Edwards

Atlantic Christian College with a Business degree. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert, and lovingly reared their five children. She was a loving homemaker, and a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and MaMa to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and take care of her family. She was a long-time active member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as W.M.U. Director for many years.

Survivors include her five children, Sandra E. Woodard and her husband, John, of Pendleton, Dan K. Edwards of Raleigh, Michael C. Edwards and his wife, Laura, of Raleigh, Keith H. Edwards and his wife, Anne, of Pendleton, and R. Mark Edwards and his wife, Leigh, of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Amy Marriott and her husband, Chris, of Greensboro, Rob Woodard and his wife, Kristin, of Ahoskie, Jennifer Edwards of Raleigh, Meredith Edwards of Greenville, and Taylor Edwards of Pendleton; five great-grandchildren, William Marriott, Jackson Marriott, Landon Woodard, Abigail Woodard, and Stella Woodard; sisters-in-law, Louise Mann, Frances Warren and her husband, Calvin, Anne McPhail, and Edith Edwards, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church in Pendleton with Dr. James Crocker officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery, with visitation following in the church fellowship hall. Family will also receive friends at the home of John and Sandra Woodard at any time.
