HERTFORD, NC – Christopher Carroll “Chris” Mizelle, 34, of Center Hill Highway, Hertford, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017.

Chris was born in Hertford County on April 23, 1982 and was the son of Carroll and Barbara Mizelle and Patricia and Paul Flythe. Employed as a millwright with Ashton Lewis Lumber Company, he was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, and was an avid musician having been a drummer for several area bands.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. C. and Bertie Lee Matthews; and by his maternal grandfather, Richard Schaelling.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his two sons, Christopher Mason Mizelle and Tye Michael Mizelle, and their mother, Jennifer Hewitt Mizelle; two daughters, Anne Belle Mizelle and Ella Tatem, and their mother, Misty Tatem; maternal grandmother, Gwendolyn Juett; a brother, David Curlings; five sisters, Audrey Wheeler, Kayla Flythe, Angela Carroll, Bobbie Shaver, and Victoria Stroud; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. in Holly Springs Baptist Church, and will be officiated by the Rev. Gilbert Crawford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may join the family on Tuesday, March 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
