Helen P. Bazemore

COFIELD, NC – Helen Pauline Bazemore, age 86, passed away on March 23, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Helen was born in Hertford County, NC on May 19, 1930, a daughter of the late James Elbert and Ruby Daughtry Bazemore. She was a graduate of Harrellsville High School and attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC where she received her secretarial certificate. She worked for the Hertford County Extension Service and later was finance officer for the Hertford County Board of Education. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years; a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie WMU; and a member of her beloved Go-Go Girls.

Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, James E. Bazemore, Jr., Thomas Lee Bazemore, and Robert P. Bazemore; and her sisters, Mary Jones Rountree, Peggy Bazemore, Jean Barden, and Patricia Ann Bazemore.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Ruby B. Carter and husband, Melvin of Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law, Nancy Rountree Bazemore of Cofield, NC; and six nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home at any time.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bazemore Family Cemetery, Cofield, NC.
