CONWAY, NC – Marion Jenkins Bridgers, 88, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC.

She grew up in Potecasi and was the daughter of Ernest and Nita Lassiter Jenkins. She attended elementary school in Potecasi and Woodland and, later, attended business school in Richmond, VA. She began her career working with Carey Reece and with the Conway Post Office.

On November 30, 1958 Marion married Bill Bridgers of Conway and they shared a happy and hard working life together as a farming family until his death on September 14, 2003. She was, also, preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby, Lois, Billy, James, Linwood “Red”, A.J., and Elmer.

Marion is survived by her son, W.T. Bridgers, Jr. “Billy Boy” and wife, Tammy of Conway; daughter, Nancy Mae B. Perkins and her husband, Dwight, of Faith, NC; grandchildren, Lindsey B. Ferguson and husband, Tyler, of Conway, Leah Perkins and Landon Perkins of Wilmington, Hillary Harrell and husband, Adam, of Greenville, and Russ Flythe and wife, Meghan of Seaboard; and great- grandchildren, Lexi Michelle Ferguson and Mac Harrell; one sister, Marjorie J. Younts and husband, Tommy of High Point; nieces, Mary Jane Blaha and “Rusty” Bessant of Fredericksburg, VA; and numerous other nieces and nephews as well as so many good friends.

The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Friday, February 24, 2017 and a funeral service for ”Miss Marion” will be on Saturday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church, Zion Church Road, Conway, NC with Rev. Susan Harrison presiding. Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
