MURFREESBORO, NC – John Gilbert Gibson, Jr. passed away on February 21, 2017. He had been preceded in death by his father, John G. Gibson, Sr. and mother, Robin Dixon Gibson; and a granddaughter, Maggie Gibson; and a step-granddaughter, Destiny Glisson.

Mr. Gibson worked at International Paper Company for 27 years, then after it closed he went to college and graduated with top honors as a Computer Information Technician. He was currently employed with Hertford County Schools as a Computer Technician, working at what he truly enjoyed doing. He was, also, involved in OVPR – Old Virginia Primitive Rifle for 30 years. He enjoyed playing music with friends and relatives. Everyone who knew John (Hoot) Gibson knew that they had met a special friend for life. He will be missed dearly by everyone.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 11 years, his darlin always and forever, Jeannie Gibson of their home; son, Adam and his wife, Shana and son, Andy and wife, Sarah; daughter, Rebecca Gibson (Pumpkin) and fiancé, Kyle Glisson; stepdaughter, Tammy Glisson; and three sisters, Debbie and husband, Allen, Donna and husband, Andy, and Trish and husband, David. He, also, leaves behind five grandchildren and a very close friend of 48 years, Gary Brett. A special thanks is extended to Jeannie’s sister, Bonnie, for bringing them together to enjoy the best years for their lives.
