MURFREESBORO – Chowan University will host the 11th annual SeniorFEST on from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on March 21.
SeniorFEST, a senior-adult event held each spring on the historic campus, highlights healthy lifestyles, Christian living and sheds light on issues facing senior-adults today. With special guest speakers, informative breakout sessions, live musical entertainment, classic southern buffet and door prizes, SeniorFEST offers a day full of fellowship and fun for individuals or groups.
This year, SeniorFEST will bring in America’s New Comedy Duo, Bean and Bailey, to perform. Bean and Bailey are former college roommates who used to spend their leisure time making funny videos and comedy sketches; however, they went their separate ways upon graduation in 1992. It wasn’t until 1999 that they were reunited and began to pursue comedy, professionally. They went from four campus shows in 1999 to having performed more than 1,000 times in over 47 states, and three countries. For more than 15 years now, Bean and Bailey have been making people laugh at events such as fundraisers, churches, cruises, and colleges.
Bean and Bailey combine stand-up comedy, music, and parodies with their idiosyncratic friendship. Bean plays the organized and conservative straight man to Bailey’s free spirit. They discuss topics such as Wal-Mart greeters, American history, love, Michael Jackson and more. The duo even made an appearance on “America’s Got Talent.” They say “Humor is a gift from God that brings people together. Laughter tightens bonds, helps rebuild relationships, and it breaks down barriers so that we can listen.”
In addition, there will be breakout sessions covering topics related to advance care planning, chair yoga, preventing diabetes, Christians of the Holy Land, Christian Millennials, scam and fraud prevention, and writing your life story. These breakout sessions will be held between 11:15 am and 12:15 pm, offering an array of options to appeal to all interests. Following the breakout sessions lunch will be hosted in the Thomas Dining Hall.
The registration fee for this day full of senior adult activities is $14 per person, which includes all programs and lunch. Pre-registration is required.
