Lafayette Moore

RICH SQUARE – Lafayette “Jackie Boy” Moore was born on August 7, 1932 in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the late Claymon Moore and Ethel Wynn Moore.  Jackie Boy slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanne Sugg Moore; one son, Bernard Sugg Moore –Vickie Stewart of Rich Square; one daughter, Jacqulynn Moore Sanders (James) of Knightdale, NC; five grandsons, Stacy Moore (Takesia) of Wendell, NC; Blake Moore – Tynikia Yancy of Raleigh, NC; Montgomery Sanders (Page) of Greensboro, NC; Jackson Sanders of Raleigh, NC; and Desmond Felton of Ahoskie, NC; four great grands, Tre`von & Saniya Moore of Wendell, NC; Ja`laya Moore of Raleigh, NC; and Zakiyus Horton of Raleigh, NC; and a very dear and devoted friend, Johnetta Baugham of Virginia Beach, VA.

Lafayette attended and graduated from W. S. Creecy High School, attended A&T State University and served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of First Baptist Church, 405 E. Jackson Street in Rich Square where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School until he became ill. To God be the Glory.

A wake will be held at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, 921 S. Main Street, Rich Square, NC on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Rich Square, NC. Burial will be in the Moore Family Cemetery, Chapel Hill Church Road, Rich Square, NC.
