WINDSOR, NC – Archie Madison Bowen, Jr., 65, of 123 Davis Road, Windsor, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in his home.

Mr. Bowen was born in Bertie County on September 23, 1951, and was the son of the late Archie M., Sr. and Madeline Taylor Bowen.  Retired from Perdue Farms, he more recently had worked with Bertie Ambulance Service, was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church, and had served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Anita Baker Bowen; two daughters, Holley Buda and husband David of Greenville, and Bonnie Copeland and husband Brad of Windsor; a sister, Mary Carol Chesson, and a brother, Kenny Bowen, both of Windsor; and three grandchildren, Courtney Cox, Stephanie Cline, and Owen Buda.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in Merry Hill Baptist Church and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. Stanley Nixon.  Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
