LEWISTON-WOODVILLE, NC – Christopher Harris Bennett, age 69, died on December 29, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Bennett was born in Williamston, Martin County, NC, on February 6, 1947 a son of the late Irvin and Pattie Modlin Bennett. He was retired as a machinist, having worked with several local companies, including Gregory’s Manufacturing and Schueck Steel. Chris enjoyed doing many things after his retirement, but most of all he enjoyed fishing, camping, and cooking.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Albert Bennett.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Letitia Smithers Bennett; a daughter, Shellee Fairless and husband, Will of Colerain, NC; two sisters, Patricia Cernew of Fayetteville, NC and Doris Moses of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, James Irvin Bennett and wife, Rose, of Conway, NC; two granddaughters, Alyssa Fairless and Alexis Fairless; a grandson, Adam Fairless, all of Colerain, NC; and a nephew, Donald Irvin Bennett of Ahoskie, NC.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Tommy Tripp, officiating.
