HARRELLSVILLE – A single vehicle accident near here Tuesday night resulted in a fatality.

Amy Kinsey Rima, 49, of Gloucester, VA – reportedly residing in Winton with a family member – died after the vehicle she was operating overturned on NC 45, approximately two miles south of Harrellsville.

According to a report filed by North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper J.T. Williams, Rima was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound on NC 45 shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

As the vehicle entered a slight curve in the road, it crossed the center line, and traveled off the left side of the highway. There it struck a ditch, and overturned, before impacting a tree.

Rima, who was not wearing a seat belt according to the Trooper’s report, was ejected from the vehicle.

Trooper Williams also noted in his report that speed was a contributing factor in the accident.

The fatality was the 12th of the year on roads in the NCHP’s Troop A / District II area (Bertie, Gates and Hertford counties). Of those dozen fatalities, five have occurred in Hertford County.
