AHOSKIE – James Howard Hall, Jr., 81, died on November 13, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Hall was born on September 21, 1935 to James Howard Hall, Sr. and Emma Jones Hall in Sampson County, NC. Howard was a member of Hickory Chapel Church. He took great pride in being a master brick mason, working alongside his brother Charles for many years. Howard always had a story to tell. He was well known for his love of trains, and many other collections he had. Howard enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Rogerson Hall; his son, James Howard Hall, III; sister, Marilyn Vick; and two brothers, Charles and Thomas Preston Hall.

Howard is survived by his son, Charles Preston Hall of Bristol, TN; adopted son, P.J. Rogerson, his wife Lynn, of Taladaga, AL; daughter-in-law, Tammy Dodd Hall of Ahoskie, NC; sister, Carolyn Hall Hockaday and husband Wade formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC and presently of Nashville, NC; several special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Sunshine.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Highland Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jim Skipper and Rev. Phil Terry, officiating.
