AULANDER – Sidney Bazemore, age 85, passed away on November 9, 2016 at the Sentara Obici Hospital of Suffolk, VA.

Mr. Bazemore was born on February 4, 1931 to the late Martha Bazemore in Bertie County, NC. Sidney was a plumber and electrician all his life serving many people in surrounding counties. He adored his dog “Minnie” that was always with him no matter where he went, and to those that knew “Minnie” knew that you didn’t go anywhere near Sidney nor his vehicle while she stood guard. Sidney loved his time in his garden, supplying friends and neighbors with fresh vegetables in the summer. He enjoyed fishing every chance he got to do so. Sidney will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Sidney is survived by his son, Sid Bazemore and his wife Pam of Morehead City, NC; three sisters, Lillie Mae and Penny White, both of Askewville, NC, and Martha Early of Windsor, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston Woodville, NC, with the Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating.
