AHOSKIE – Sue Cochran Copeland, 80, of 715 W. Stokes Street, Ahoskie, died on Monday, October 31, 2016 in her home.

Mrs. Copeland was born on December 8, 1935 in Chattanooga, TN, and was the daughter of the late Charles W. Cochran, Jr. and Louise Kirkpatrick Cochran.

A former schoolteacher, she spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, wife, and mother. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, where she served as President of the W.M.U., teacher of the Edith Freeman Adult Sunday School Class, and a worker in the Youth Department, she also enjoyed membership in the Ahoskie Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Cochran.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, C. Malcolm Copeland; a daughter, Ann Cooke and husband Bryant of Murfreesboro; a son, Alan Copeland of Utica, NY; four grandchildren, Harrison C. Revelle and wife Casey of Murfreesboro, Leslie Revelle Lawrence and husband Austin of Colerain, Samantha Copeland Miskic and husband Veldin of Yorkville, NY, and Stephanie Rae Copeland of Utica; and a great-grandson, Graham Charles Lawrence.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, 312 West Main Street, Ahoskie, and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Daniel Glaze and the Rev. Dr. Jesse Croom.  A private inurnment will be held in the church’s columbarium.

The family will receive friends in the social hall immediately following the service on Friday, and all other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, NC  27910, and are to be designated for use in the Columbarium Fund; or to any Hospice Care organization.
