Early Voting

Early voting turnout in the Roanoke-Chowan area and statewide is at a brisk pace.

As of 1 pm Wednesday, over two million one-stop votes had already been cast statewide, making up 31.8% of the 6.8 million registered voters in North Carolina.

In Bertie County, there are 14,197 registered voters according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, and of those 3,337 have already cast a ballot between the county’s two sites.

Hertford County has a total of 15,169 registered, with 3,636 who have voted via the one-stop method as of Wednesday.

Gates County has 8,627 voters on the rolls, with 1,356 early voters so far.

Of Northampton’s 14,820 registered voters, 3,075 have also already cast their votes.

One-stop early voting ends in North Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 5, so if that is your preferred method of casting a ballot, do so quickly.

All local locations will end early voting at 1pm on Saturday; all times listed below are for weekdays except where noted.

Bertie County has two one-stop sites, the Bertie County Board of Elections office at 210 W. Watson St. in Windsor, which is open daily from 8:30 am-6 pm. The other early voting location in Bertie is in the Powellsville Town Hall at 106 E. Main St. in Powellsville, open 9 am-5 pm.

Gates County also has two one-stop voting sites, one at the Gates County Board of Elections Office at 931 Main St. in Gatesville, open from 9 am-6 pm and the other is in St. John AME Zion Church at 1101 US Hwy 158 East in Sunbury, open between 12 noon and 6 pm.

In Hertford County, there are three early voting locations, to include the Hertford County Cooperative Extension Building, located at 301 W. Tryon St in Winton, and is open between 8:30 am and 5 pm. One-stop is also available from 12-6 pm at the Murfree Center on 201 E. Broad St. in Murfreesboro. In Ahoskie, the R.L. Vann School is open between 12 and 6 pm at 415 E. Holloman St.

Northampton County has four one-stop sites. One is located on 400 Broughton St. in Gaston at the Gaston Elementary School and will only be open between 8 am and 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 5. Another is at the Lake Gaston Center at 564 NC Hwy 46, also in Gaston, and is open between 8:30 am and 4 pm. The Northampton County Board of Elections Office has an early voting site that is in Jackson at 9495 NC Hwy 305 and is open from 8 am-5 pm. In Rich Square, the Roanoke Center at 409 N. Main St. is open for early voters between 8:30 am and 4 pm.

The General Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
