MANTEO – Carolyn Perry Lassiter, 87, of Manteo, NC died Saturday, October 22, 2016 from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born July 16, 1929 to the late Lee O. Perry and Vera Baker Perry. Retired from the Dare County school system, she was a member of Manteo Baptist Church, and loved gardening. Carolyn also enjoyed helping others in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost forty years, Stanley Lassiter; and by her second husband, James Parker. Also deceased are her siblings, Oliver L. Perry, Catherine P. Perry, Martha P. Baker, Elsie P. Williams, Randolph Perry, Doris P. Holloman, John E. Perry, Joyce P. Perry; and son-in-law, Richard Johnson.

Carolyn is survived by her four children, Larry Lassiter and wife Harriet, Effie Jones, Cheryl Johnson, and Pam Johnson and husband JE. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jeff Gray and wife Tara, Cristie Daniels and husband David, Jerome Lassiter and wife Lea, Rich Johnson and wife Melanie, Chad Johnson and wife Becky, Jonathan Ballance and wife Merry, and Sarah Ballance; great-grandchildren, Taryn and Dylan Daniels, Madison and Jeffrey Gray, and Mia Ballance; great-great-grandchild, Ryland Daniels; and siblings, Wallace Perry and Esther P. Perry.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Manteo Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at the Perry Family Cemetery in Colerain, NC.
