MURFREESBORO – Jean Ruth Sanderlin, 84, of Murfreesboro died October 16, 2016 at Creekside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ahoskie after a lengthy illness.

She had been preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ruth Benthall Sanderlin.

Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Jean came to Murfreesboro to attend the then Chowan College (now known as Chowan University) and after graduating she would, eventually, settle in Murfreesboro and begin work with the Army Corps of Engineers, Maritime Administration Department in the Hampton Roads, Virginia Terminal where she remained until retirement.  She made the commute to work in Norfolk daily from Murfreesboro.

A memorial service for Ms. Sanderlin will be held at a later time in Murfreesboro when her family in Arizona can attend.
