The amount of the scholarship award is based on donations and monies collected at the actual event. Wiggins was awarded $1,000. She is a 2016 graduate of Hertford County High School and she is currently a student at North Carolina Central University in Durham, majoring in Political Science.

Wiggins is a Hertford County resident and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wiggins.

Applicants had to write a 200-word essay explaining why they were the best candidate to receive this scholarship. It had to be in Times New Roman script, 12 point font and double spaced. Entries were judges on content, grammar/ spelling community involvement, accomplishments, format and neatness. Each category could receive a score 1-5 from each judge with 5 being the highest. The judge’s scores were then tallied to determine which applicant had the highest score.

Grace Bible College Chancellor and President also completed a graduation ceremony and recognized past and current students of the college.

Special thanks to the committee Christine Stephenson-Chairperson, Dr. Cathy James (Vice-President of Grace Bible College on the North Carolina campuses), Elder Party Ann Smith, Minister Shirley Harmon, Demetra Lassiter, Wendy Futrell and Kierra Jones).
