WINDSOR – Bertie County’s Economic Development Commission has been honored with a marketing communications award it received this month at the Southern Economic Development Council’s annual conference, held in Kansas City, MO.

The county’s new economic development brochures and website, http://www.bertiecountynceconomicdev.com/ took home “MERIT” awards for effectively telling the Bertie County story to prospective employers, tourists, and residents.

“I’m thankful the (Bertie County) Commissioners allowed us to have the opportunity to create a new web page,” said county Economic Development Commission Executive Director Steve Biggs, when learning of the honor. “We certainly hope this gives us another tool that will hopefully give our county’s information to businesses all around the world and hopefully entice some business that sees it to think twice about us. We also have some nice brochures we can place in people and public officials’ hands at trade shows.”

“We are thrilled by this recognition, and honored to have been selected to develop the brochures and website,” said Jim Walton, CEO of Brand Acceleration, who accepted the award on behalf of the county.

Also providing expert counsel to the project was Crystal Morphis, CEO of Creative Economic Development Consulting, Elkin, NC. Crystal’s experience includes product development, strategic planning, best practices analyses, economic impact studies, existing business retention and expansion programs and site selection
